Shopping List

Pick your shopping items, then remember what order they went in the trolley.

⏱ 5–8 minutes 👂 Auditory & visual memory 👥 1 adult + 1 child

What you'll need

  • 🖨️
Printed shopping item cards (cut them out) laid out on the table

How to play

  1. Spread all the item cards face-up on the table, like a little shop.
  2. Ask your child to choose 3 items and place them in a row, saying each one aloud as they place it.
  3. Mix the cards back into the pile.
  4. Ask: "Can you pick the same 3 items again, in the same order?"
  5. Check together against a note of the original order (you can jot it down, or just remember it yourself).
  6. If correct, try 4 items next round, then 5 — building up slowly.

Two more ways to play

🗣️ You call, they collect

Say a short list yourself ("bread, cheese, apple") and ask your child to find and collect those cards from the pile, in order.

🛍️ Add-on chain

Play it like Story Chain (Game 4) — each round adds one more item to remember, using the physical cards as a memory check.

🎛️ Adjusting the difficulty

🟢
Make it easier: start with 2 items, or let your child keep the original row visible as they search for a match.
🔴
Make it harder: increase to 5–6 items, or ask them to place the items in reverse order.
